In what is being reported as a record year for the number of auto industry recalls, the trend continues with an announcement from Toyota that includes three different defects affecting more than 400,000 vehicles. Some of the alleged defects related to air bags and brake systems raise the potential for product liability claims in Texas as well as across the country.
It appears that inside several Texas metropolitan hospitals, the task of managing and eliminating infections is proving to be very difficult. Although medical care is most definitely a field in which an emphasis on sanitary conditions comes with the territory, it still behooves everyone to remember the risks and dangers that can be associated with any hospital visit.
Natural gas and oil production across Texas and other states has been linked to a big increase in traffic fatalities. An Associated Press analysis of fatal motor vehicle accidents in major drilling states suggests that equipment and trucks on the road have contributed to a quadruple in the number of fatalities in those locations. While many American road studies have indicated a decrease in road accidents, the trend is the reverse in drilling locations.
It seems as though the news is full of stories about fatal accidents caused by distracted driving, both here in Texas and around the country. Most states have outlawed texting while driving, and some have gone so far as to ban handheld cellphone use as well. No matter where you live, however, there is no feigning ignorance of the fact that distracted driving is dangerous and deadly.
