A vehicle accident recently snatched the life of an individual in Texas. The accident happened on a Monday afternoon along State Highway 304. One man is facing multiple criminal charges in connection with the fatal vehicle accident.
According to police, the collision occurred at about 1:10 p.m. It involved two pickup trucks, one of which was pulling a trailer. Authorities said a man driving a truck with a trailer was going north on the highway and suddenly entered the lane going south, where his vehicle hit the other pickup truck. Police said the man's eyes were bloodshot and glassy when they saw him following the collision.
The woman driving the other pickup truck passed away at the crash scene; she was 60. Meanwhile, a passenger in her vehicle, age 2, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. The male driver faces charges, including intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter. Police said because the child's injuries were so severe, another charge is pending against the 23-year-old man.
The loved ones of the woman who died in the Texas accident have the right to file a wrongful death claim against the man accused of driving under the influence. A personal injury claim may also be filed against him since the girl was injured in the fatal vehicle accident. If the man is convicted of his criminal charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding with the goal of establishing liability; only when this happens will claims for monetary damages be determined.
