An accident involving a dump truck took place on a recent Friday. The Texas truck accident occurred during the morning hours. It happened to be caught on video tape. When accidents of this nature occur and cause injuries due to the carelessness of a truck driver, the driver may be held financially accountable for the injuries in civil court.
Authorities said a dump truck went barreling through a red light. It then crashed into a car and narrowly missed other vehicles. An SUV in the area where the accident occurred said his vehicle sustained minor damage in the collision. A fire erupted at the crash scene.
The company to which the dump truck involved in the crash belonged was found to have another collision on its record. This previous crash took place in Aug. 2015. The U.S. Department of Transportation also documented 20 company violations stemming from five different inspections between 2014 and 2015. Authorities are investigating why exactly the truck failed to stop at the intersection.
Sometimes, a truck accident occurs due to the negligence of the truck driver or even the carelessness of his or her employer when it comes to maintaining the equipment, for example. If a victim suffers a serious injury as a result, he or she may choose to file a personal injury claim in a Texas civil court for monetary damages against the truck driver and his or her employer. A successful civil claim may help to provide a victim with much-needed financial recovery following a costly truck accident.
