When people choose to drink and drive on Texas roads, it often leads to motor vehicle collisions that result in tragedies. An incident occurred on a recent Tuesday that has left one young woman mourning the loss of two loved ones. A 21-year-old college student is believed to have caused the fatal accident.
The woman was almost five-months pregnant when the vehicle in which she was traveling with her husband was struck by another motorist. The driver of the other vehicle is believed to have been intoxicated at the time. She has also reportedly been arrested multiple times in the past for possession of controlled substances and marijuana.
On the day of the accident, the motorist in question said she had spent the day floating down the river, and she had been drinking alcohol. At some point, her vehicle veered across the traffic lane and smashed into the married couple's car. Sadly, the pregnant woman suffered bleeding on her brain as a result of the collision and was forced to deliver her baby. Both the baby and the woman's husband died.
The driver deemed responsible for the fatal accident was taken to a Texas jail and held on $185,000 cash bond. A family member of the deceased victims stated that choosing to drink and drive often has devastating effects on other people's lives. Such incidents sometimes lead to litigation when immediate family members act on the behalf of decedents to seek monetary judgments against those believed to have caused their loved ones' deaths.
