A deadly accident can bring heartache to a number of people. Family members of the victim will feel their loss for years to come. The person who caused the fatal accident may face penalties that can include years behind bars, and most will live with the guilt that their actions took the life of another person. One example of this kind of tragedy involves a Texas woman who was killed in a recent accident involving two vehicles.
Police reports state the evening accident happened when a Ford Mustang crashed into the back end of a pickup truck. The impact pushed the truck off the road, and it then rolled over. Once emergency responders arrived on the scene, they found the truck's passenger, a 60-year-old female, had not survived the accident. The driver of the truck was taken to a local medical facility with critical injuries.
The driver of the Mustang and her passenger evacuated the car and ran away. Police were able to find them and placed them under arrest. Injuries to the passenger were minimal, and the driver had not been hurt in the collision. The charges against them were not listed as the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
A fatal accident that happens because of the negligent actions of a driver will often prompt the families of the victims to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver. The amount requested by these family members varies by case but is based on the future income lost as a result of the death, the costs of the funeral and burial, and whatever value may be placed on the loss of companionship. A Texas attorney will handle the intricacies of the suit, leaving the clients able to focus on their new normal.
