The loss of life in a fatal accident is a tragedy surviving family members and friends do not get over. They may learn to live without their loved one and the pain may lessen some over time, but the grief will always remain. There were injuries and deaths on Texas I-30 as a result of a fatal accident between several semitrailers and a minivan.
An early morning wreck was the cause of the blockage of both lanes of the interstate. Traffic was backed up for a significant amount of time while crews were working to clear the debris. Nearly an hour after the wreck, three semis pulled up to the lanes of traffic but did not stop, striking each other. A fourth semi happened upon the scene and smashed into a minivan, crushing it between two of the big rigs.
Four of the five occupants of the minivan were killed upon impact, with the fifth airlifted to a hospital over an hour away. At the time of a report on the incident, he was still in the intensive care unit. The driver of the fourth semi was also killed in the collision. The other three truck drivers were treated for minor injuries. The report did not mention pending charges.
Often these types of deaths can be avoided by drivers of all vehicles paying attention to the road in front of them. When a fatal accident occurs because a driver was negligent, the family of the deceased can pursue financial compensation from the driver and, if he or she was working at the time of the accident, from the driver's employer as well. An attorney can present options as well as provide assistance utilizing the applicable laws for the state of Texas.
