Parents who have lost children know how unbearable that pain can be. When it is because another person's negligence caused a senseless, fatal accident, it is even worse. A 15-year-old Texas boy was killed in a recent car accident.
Late-night traffic had slowed because of a necessary lane closure for road work. A person driving a Mercedes did not slow down and plowed into the last car in the open lane. The domino effect resulted in damage to three other vehicles. The impact of the collision with the first car, a sedan, caused the car to catch on fire. The 40-year-old driver and the boy were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
Injuries to the sedan's driver were not serious, but the boy died after he arrived at the hospital. The drivers of the other damaged vehicles suffered from minor injuries, while the driver of the Mercedes was not hurt at all. Police have not yet completed their investigation, and they have not released any information as to why the driver of the Mercedes did not slow down or stop or what charges he will be facing.
In the loss of a loved one in a fatal accident, it is often difficult to focus on the next steps to take. The chaos of police reports, insurance investigations and funeral arrangements compounded with the grief of losing someone close can be unbearable. An experienced attorney can lighten the burden and manage all the legal agitations that a Texas resident will encounter in such a situation.
