Getting out on the road these days can be dangerous, whether a person is just going a few miles to the nearest market or traveling hundreds of miles for a long-awaited vacation. Another driver whose full attention is not on the road for any reason may cause a fatal accident, resulting in changes to the lives of a number of people. Texas police say alcohol consumption or drug use may have been a factor in a recent fatal accident.
There were several witnesses who were able to give police a fairly clear picture of the accident that killed the female passenger in a black sedan. It seemed that the driver and the passenger were having an argument when the passenger tried to get out of the car as it was still moving. The car allegedly ran a red light, and another vehicle crashed into the side of the car, killing the emerging passenger. A third car was hit as the sedan was pushed across the intersection.
Two of the drivers were taken to a nearby hospital and were treated and released. Police were questioning the driver of the sedan, who may have been impaired by illegal substances. They were trying to determine if the passenger was getting out of the vehicle on her own or if she was being pushed at the time of the collision.
The heartbreak of losing a loved one in a fatal accident can never truly be mended. Survivors may learn to move on, but they will never be the same. Although it does not bring their loved one back to them, some draw comfort from filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the person deemed responsible for the accident. Texas residents who have questions concerning the particulars of filing that type of suit will want to contact an attorney with extensive experience helping others in a similar situation.
