Alcohol likely responsible for fatal accident

Time and time again, news stories tell the tragic stories of the results from drinking and driving. Some who drink and then drive feel they are perfectly fine behind the wheel and can make it to their intended destination with no incident. However, some simply do not care that they could cause a fatal accident or one with permanent severe injuries.  A Texas man recently died in a fatal accident police say involved alcohol consumption.

According to a report, the 32-year-old driver of a Honda Civic was speeding on a road at approximately 9:15 p.m. He lost control of his vehicle, ran off the road and crashed into a tree in the median. His 27-year-old passenger died at the scene from blunt force trauma to his midsection, according to the medical examiner.

The driver was injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. While still at the hospital police charged him with intoxication manslaughter. No information was given on arraignment nor the amount of his bail.

Grief and anger of surviving family members often demand full accountability when someone's negligent or reckless act causes a fatal accident. Many families who have been in a similar situation have chosen to file a wrongful death lawsuit in an attempt to hold the party deemed negligent financially responsible for his or her actions. Although it may seem to be a difficult task to place a dollar amount on a life lost, an experienced Texas attorney will be able to guide a client through the process and fight to secure the maximum recoverable monetary damages.
