While many people drink throughout the week, the weekends seem to be the time more alcohol is consumed. The result is a greater potential for a fatal accident caused by drinking and then driving. Texas police say a fatal accident that occurred around 11 p.m. on a Friday night took the life of a 28-year-old.

A spokesperson for the local police department reported a woman was headed east when her car went off the road, over the median and into the westbound lane. It then collided head-on with a westbound car. The driver of that car was found dead by first responders.

The driver responsible for the accident was injured and was taken to a nearby hospital but will fully recover from her wounds. Police charged her with intoxication manslaughter, and she was taken to the county jail. Her bond was set at $50,000, and she was able to post the required amount for her release.

The selfish actions of one woman took a beloved member of another family whose pain will be felt for years to come. When life is needlessly taken unexpectedly in a fatal accident, it can be difficult to know what actions to take to just get through the day. Then there are the considerations of what it takes to make it financially, particularly if the victim contributed to the financial stability of the family. Any award achieved from pursuing a wrongful death claim can be used to lessen the financial burden. A Texas personal injury attorney will be able to guide a client through every step of the process.
