Teen disregards wet conditions, killing one in a fatal accident

Weather can play a central role in how a person drives. In adverse conditions, such as rain or snow, each driver should take precautions and be as vigilant as circumstances allow to avoid injury or a fatal accident. An 18-year-old Texas man is facing a charge of manslaughter after his actions in inclement weather caused a fatal accident.

It was early on a Sunday evening and rain was pouring down, when the young man was driving over 75 mph, according to witnesses. He came to a curved part of the highway and veered out of his northbound lane, through the grass in the median and into the lanes headed south. The witnesses then saw his pickup truck collide with an SUV and watched it fly into the air and roll once it landed.

The driver of the SUV was killed immediately and a passenger in the vehicle was injured and had to be transported to a nearby hospital. The young man was injured, as well, and was wearing a sling when he was recently booked into the county jail after a grand jury handed down an indictment. He had been enrolled in Baylor University and slated to play on the football team. He has since withdrawn from the school.

Because of this man's apparent negligence in disregarding the weather conditions and causing this fatal accident, one family is facing the expenses dealing with a funeral and burial and the loss of income and companionship their loved one provided. Another family is looking at medical bills that can quickly escalate to unmanageable proportions. Economic relief can come in the form of an award from a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. A skilled Texas attorney will work aggressively to ensure the client achieves the best possible outcome for his or her case.
