Too many families have grieved from the loss of loved ones taken too soon as a result of someone else drinking and then driving. What these families experience after a fatal accident is a pain few other events can bring. A 66-year-old Texas man recently died from the injuries he suffered in a fatal accident caused by suspected drunk driving.

According to a report, it was around 1:30 a.m. when the man was on the road in his pickup truck and was hit from behind by another pickup truck. He was ejected from his truck and was seriously injured. Emergency personnel transported him to an area hospital, but he died a few hours later from the injuries.

The younger man who hit him was not injured and left the scene on foot. Police on foot, in cruisers and in a helicopter searched for him and were able to locate him a short time later. He was charged with intoxication manslaughter and was booked into the county jail with bond set at $30,000.

Because the actions of this individual caused the death of another person, the family of the deceased man has the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. An award from this type of lawsuit would allow the family to pay the hospital bills that were incurred, funeral and burial expenses and other expenditures they may have as a result of the fatal accident. A Texas attorney will be able to give more detailed information as to what is required by the court to make a claim.
