Life of teenager is lost in fatal accident

Every Texas driver has a responsibility to others on the road, to passengers and to him or herself to obey the driving rules of the state. When those rules are not observed, there is the potential for people to be seriously injured or even killed in a fatal accident. A 17-year-old girl died in a recent fatal accident as a result of ignoring the rules of the road.

The teenager was one of two passengers in a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette that emulated a pinball after it went off the road on which it was traveling when the driver lost control of the vehicle. It first hit a light pole, then a guard rail and an embankment before finally coming to a stop. The girl died at the scene.

The other passenger, a 22-year-old male was transported to a local hospital barely hanging onto his life. The 17-year-old driver of the car was injured but is expected to make a full recovery. Police believe the driver had been drinking and was going too fast to maintain control of the car. They also alluded to the fact seat belts were not in use by at least one occupant. They have not yet concluded their investigation.

A Corvette is a fun car to which a driver may want to test the limits. However, that does not excuse irresponsible behavior. As in this case, a few moments of recklessness can turn into a lifetime of tragedy for a number of people. Texas residents who have lost a loved one in a fatal accident will want to speak to an attorney to learn the options they have in pursuit of a wrongful death lawsuit.
