Most car drivers can tell stories of near-misses with semi trucks. While many truck drivers show responsibility while on the Texas highways, some are careless in their mission. This negligence can often result in a collision and, sometimes, a fatal accident. Three men recently died in a fatal accident due to the inattentiveness of a semi-truck driver.

The pre-dawn accident occurred as the driver of the semi-truck was headed south. As he approached an intersection where he should have stopped, he drove through it. The 47-year-old driver of a pickup truck was traveling west and was hit by the semi when he was going through the intersection. He and his two passengers, both males in their twenties, were killed by the impact of the collision.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, and so far, he has only been charged with failure to yield. Police do not believe he had been drinking alcohol near the time of the collision. It is not known if police will conduct a more thorough investigation and issue additional charges.

When the driver of any vehicle causes a fatal accident because of negligence, whether intentional or not, they can be held accountable through the filing of a wrongful death lawsuit by the family members of the deceased. Requested compensation amounts can be based on funeral and burial costs, medical expenses and loss of income, among other expenses. An experienced Texas attorney can guide a client through the process of pursuing damages that would help overcome financial difficulty the loss may have left caused.
