Most accidents on the road happen because someone is negligent. Not obeying traffic rules, failing to keep a vehicle properly maintained and drinking alcohol or using illegal drugs are all examples of negligent or even reckless behaviors. But simply not having the proper focus while driving is enough to cause a serious or even fatal accident. One recent crash took the life of a 60-year-old Texas woman.
Reportedly, the afternoon accident occurred when two SUVs were traveling toward each other in their respective lanes. One vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle died upon impact.
The driver and passenger of the first vehicle, a married couple, were both seriously injured and were taken to a medical facility for treatment. The husband was listed as serious with incapacitating injuries, while the wife was reported as stable but also with incapacitating injuries. Police have not yet concluded their investigation of the crash but say all three people were wearing their seat belts.
From the initially reported information, it appears that the the driver of the first vehicle bears responsibility for the fatal accident. The family of the deceased woman will have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit against him and any separate owner of the vehicle he was operating. For Texas residents who have lost a family member because of the negligence of another, an attorney will be able to explain the process of filing a lawsuit and can handle the claim throughout the ensuing legal proceedings.
