Tragedies happen every day though many of them are entirely preventable. Drinking and driving is responsible for a great number of tragedies. Whether it is a minor fender bender with no injuries or a fatal accident, innocent people may have to deal with car repairs, medical bills or funeral expenses they never expected to handle, and all because someone else chose to be selfish. Texas Highway Patrol troopers recently released a report on a fatal accident they believe was due to drinking and driving.

In the very early hours of the morning, a 25-year-old man was headed north. He had approached an intersection with a traffic light, and as it was green, he proceeded through the intersection. At the same time a 21-year-old man was driving faster than the posted speed limit and headed west. Her drove through the red light in front of him, crashing into the passenger side of the northbound vehicle.

Police say the older driver died upon impact. They did not reveal whether the other driver was injured, but did report that he was arrested. He is currently facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Texas families who have lost a loved one due to a fatal accident know how hard it is to deal with such heartache. Having to deal with the shock and grief after a fatal accident can be overwhelming when adding in the financial pressures of the funeral and burial, along with the loss of income on which many families so heavily depend. An experienced personal injury attorney can help pursue financial relief through a wrongful death lawsuit against the party or parties deemed responsible.
