Carelessness behind the wheel is never acceptable. A driver not having focus on the road often leads to a fatal accident or one with serious injuries. Texas police say a 24-year-old woman was responsible for causing a fatal accident that killed a 7-month-old child.

Police reported the nighttime accident took place at a curve on a state highway. The young woman was headed south and crossed the center line as she rounded the curve. She collided head-on with another driver headed north. The other driver died upon impact.

The young woman and her 1-year-old passenger were both transported to an area hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. The other driver had three properly restrained children in her vehicle, ages 6 years, 4 years and 7 months. The children were taken to the hospital and also listed as stable, but the youngest died several hours after arrival. The report did not release information as to pending charges but stated the investigation is ongoing.

Family members sitting vigil in a hospital after a collision resulting in serious injuries or by a graveside after a fatal accident often do not know where to turn in the midst of their grief. A financial award from a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit can help ease the burden the unexpected costs medical treatments and/or funerals can bring. An experienced Texas attorney knows the process the courts require in filing such lawsuits and can take over the reins, allowing some peace of mind and comfort to the family.
